Steam Punk Folio

Steam Punk Folio

I created this folio for a swap. I knew she liked steam punk so I chose that theme specifically. I used Bella Creations papers and Julie Nutting dolls. A lot of my projects use her dolls.

Altered Clothes Peg

Altered Clothes Peg

I have been working with a lot of black and white lately and this project was created for a swap. I love The Wizard of Oz and these stills copied from Pinterest allowed the creation of the altered clothes peg and the accompanying ATCs. The splash of red adds a lift like Dorothy’s ruby slippers.

Fairy Pocketletter

I created this Pocketletter with a Fairy theme for a swap with an international partner. I used Julie Nutting’s Marisol doll and gave her acetate wings.
Pocketletter’ s have always been a favourite of mine. I love the challenge of a new theme.

Thanks for looking.

Hand painted beach tag

I created this hand painted tag
for a swap with an international friend. She wanted a beach theme. So instead of just layering paper, as I usually go for, I decided to have a go at hand painting the background.

Step 3

Step 4

I really liked how this one turned out. Of course I needed to use a Julie Nutting doll but you know they are my favourite!

This Blog is a place where I can share the creative ideas and projects I have been working on. I am a busy mother of 5 who works in a large and dynamic education setting so I use my down time to craft, create and swap around the world.
I do not and will not ever express myself an expert in anything I produce but really just want to share with like minded people. I often utilise the ideas of others and change them to suit my personal goals.
I am thrilled if you like what I share but share for personal expression and a record of my creative processes as a digital form of journaling.
Please follow if interested as I start to build my digital journal.
I start with this art journal page that I created as part of a Lockdown Isolation Days journal for the 2020 pandemic that has hit the world.
I have a love of Julie Nutting and her dolls and so many of my projects will reflect and use these dolls to represent the ideas behind my art or creative projects.
This one is to remember the trials and exhaustive process of communicating using Zoom. Whilst seeing people face to face in the platform, it also makes it hard to get the underlying messages that we all take for granted - body language, emotional response, one on one interaction.
Using an old book, I started with Gesso, then acrylic paints then markers. I used Copic markers to colour the dolls and Clarissa - the teacher in the bottom left - I stamped and fussy cut papers to represent the school aspect of this page. Being an educator who was forced into online learning by a disease that has swept the world, this page will be a reminder of this time and all of the accomplishments achieved by the very talented and dedicated people that I work with and who also educate my children during this very new and unprecedented time in history.
